Dr Alex George rose to national prominence after appearing on ITV’s ‘Love Island’ in 2018, but he quickly proved himself to be far more than a television personality. He used his growing public platform to tackle some of the UK’s most urgent wellbeing issues and became one of the country’s leading voices on mental health, emotional resilience and youth wellbeing. By combining medical expertise with personal honesty, Alex connects with audiences from all backgrounds and is now widely respected as a keynote speaker on diversity, inclusion and psychological wellbeing. He is recognised for helping to reduce the stigma around mental health and for encouraging more open, compassionate conversations in workplaces, schools and communities.
After graduating from the University of Exeter with a degree in Medicine, Alex pursued a career within the NHS, working as an A&E doctor at hospitals including University Hospital Lewisham and King’s College Hospital. His frontline experience exposed him to the realities of mental and physical health inequalities affecting people across the UK. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Alex continued working in emergency medicine while simultaneously using his public influence to raise awareness of the nation’s growing mental health crisis. Following the tragic loss of his younger brother to suicide, Alex became an even stronger advocate for early intervention and accessible mental health support, campaigning tirelessly for improvements to youth mental health services and wellbeing education nationwide.
In recognition of his work, Alex was appointed UK Government Youth Mental Health Ambassador, a role that saw him work closely with policymakers, charities and educators to improve mental health provision for young people. Alongside organisations including YoungMinds, Mind and the Anna Freud Centre, he has campaigned for mental health education to sit alongside core subjects within schools. Alex has also built an impressive media and publishing career, becoming a Sunday Times bestselling author with books including ‘Live Well Every Day’, ‘The Mind Manual’ and ‘A Better Day’, which won Children’s Non-Fiction Book of the Year at the British Book Awards. In addition, he hosts the popular podcasts ‘The Waiting Room’ and ‘Stompcast’, while appearing regularly as a television presenter on programmes such as ‘Lorraine’. In 2023, Alex joined Anna Richardson and Yinka Bokinni to present Naked Education, dedicated to body positivity and educating viewers on what a ‘normal’ body looks like.
As a keynote speaker, Alex delivers inspiring and deeply relatable talks centred on mental health, resilience, inclusion and wellbeing culture. Combining lived experience with clinical insight, he provides organisations with practical advice on building healthier, more supportive environments where people feel heard, valued and psychologically safe. His warm communication style, honesty and ability to discuss difficult subjects openly make him particularly impactful with corporate audiences, healthcare professionals, educators and young people alike. Whether discussing mental fitness, suicide prevention, burnout or workplace wellbeing, Alex leaves audiences feeling informed, empowered and motivated to create lasting positive change.
“We were eager to work with Dr Alex after developing our Emotional Pillar within Consumer Experience for L’Oreal Professional Products Division. Alex is a great figure, doing some amazing things to raise awareness and amplify the topic of Mental Health and he did not disappoint. He inspired the delegates and got people thinking about the important topic. He was on time for every meeting and even when we made a last-minute date and time change he accepted and adapted without any complaints. Alex was inspiring, professional and relatable throughout and we will definitely be looking to work with him again. Keep up the fabulous work Alex!”
“We are currently editing the Dr Alex recording, the first small section is being released to the learners this week and the staff involved in the recording were really pleased with the discussions they had with him.”
