Dr Alex George rose to prominence during his stint on ITV’s Love Island in 2018 and gained a significant social media following from the show – a platform he uses to raise awareness of mental health, and to encourage more people to speak out about the topic. As a former A&E doctor, Alex is all too aware of the implications poor mental health can have on our daily lives. After tirelessly campaigning to raise awareness of mental health after the tragic loss of his brother, in 2021 Alex was appointed the UK Government’s Youth Ambassador for Mental Health by former Prime Minister Boris Johnson. When Alex is hired as a speaker, Alex covers topics such as mental health and healthcare at a wide range of events.
Upon graduating from the University of Exeter with a degree in Medicine, Alex began working at King’s College Hospital before then moving to University Hospital Lewisham, London to pursue his passion for helping people. After his appearance on Love Island, Alex’s life would change forever, he gained nationwide recognition and became one of the most well-known influencers in the country. During the Covid-19 pandemic, he juggled life on the frontline and his life as an influencer but in the summer of 2020, Alex sadly lost his little brother to suicide. By 2021, Alex says he was in the darkest place of his life and was himself taking antidepressants to help with his mental health.
After the tragic loss of his brother, Alex decided he was going to campaign harder raising awareness of mental health issues. As the UK’s Ambassador for Mental Health, Alex has started his mission to make mental health education compulsory in schools. He has worked with charities such as YoungMinds and Anna Freud Centre & Mind to try and implement this change in schools. As well as hosting hugely popular podcasts ‘The Waiting Room’ and ‘Stompcast’, Alex is a TV Doctor, a resident presenter on ITV’s Lorraine and since 2023 has been a presenter on Channel 4’s Naked Education alongside Anna Richardson.
Wanting to share his tips and tricks to ensure a healthy mind and body, Alex is now the published author of three books including ‘Live Well Every Day’ which became a Sunday Times number 1 Bestseller. ‘A Better Day’ – Alex’s children’s book won Children’s Book of the Year 2023. His medical knowledge coupled with his empathetic view on mental health makes Alex one of the most sought-after speakers to hire for any event. With a charismatic personality, the audience at any event he attends will leave feeling both enlightened and informed on mental health. Do not hesitate in booking Dr Alex George when looking for an exceptional mental health speaker today.
“We were eager to work with Dr Alex after developing our Emotional Pillar within Consumer Experience for L’Oreal Professional Products Division. Alex is a great figure, doing some amazing things to raise awareness and amplify the topic of Mental Health and he did not disappoint. He inspired the delegates and got people thinking about the important topic. He was on time for every meeting and even when we made a last-minute date and time change he accepted and adapted without any complaints. Alex was inspiring, professional and relatable throughout and we will definitely be looking to work with him again. Keep up the fabulous work Alex!”
“We are currently editing the Dr Alex recording, the first small section is being released to the learners this week and the staff involved in the recording were really pleased with the discussions they had with him.”
