Gender Equality & Equity Speakers
Achieving true gender equality is essential for creating environments where everyone can thrive, regardless of gender. Although there has been progress, significant inequalities still exist in areas like the workplace, education, healthcare, and mental health.
In the UK, women hold 40% of board positions in FTSE 100 companies. However, only 34% of executive roles are occupied by women. Globally, women are underrepresented in STEM, with just 28% participation.
Men face unique challenges too. They account for 75% of suicides worldwide. This often results from societal pressures and unaddressed mental health issues. In education, boys are 50% less likely than girls to reach reading proficiency by age 15.
Non-binary and gender non-conforming individuals also face barriers. In the UK, one-third report workplace discrimination, and 58% of transgender people delay healthcare due to fear of mistreatment.
Tackling these inequalities is vital. We need to ensure that everyone, regardless of gender, has fair opportunities in life.
