Briony May Williams is a television presenter, disability advocate and baker, best known for reaching the semi-final of “The Great British Bake Off” in 2018. Her warmth and humour quickly won over audiences, but what makes her truly stand out is her ability to use her platform to champion diversity and inclusion. Since her breakthrough moment, she has built a career as a regular presenter on BBC One’s “Escape to the Country” and “Morning Live”, while also becoming a trusted voice for representation in the media.
Before her television career, Briony studied at Durham University, graduating with a degree in Spanish and French. She went on to travel the world before gaining her PGCE at the University of Bristol and working as a secondary school teacher. Alongside her teaching, she developed her passion for baking, which ultimately led to her time in the Bake Off tent. Her journey shows not only resilience and creativity but also the importance of embracing opportunities and redefining what success can look like.
Briony’s achievements extend far beyond the kitchen. She has appeared on numerous programmes, including “Food Unwrapped,” “Would I Lie to You?,” “House of Games” and “The Last Leg,” and has collaborated with leading brands, including Amazon Prime Video, KitchenAid and FitBit. Most significantly, she was named in The Shaw Trust Disability Power 100 List in both 2021 and 2022, recognising her as one of the UK’s most influential disabled people. Briony also supports several charities as an ambassador for Reach, Bristol Mind and Paul’s Place, underlining her dedication to improving lives and promoting inclusion.
As a speaker, Briony brings together her personal experiences and professional successes to deliver engaging, heartfelt and thought-provoking talks. She is open about living with a disability and uses her platform to challenge stereotypes, encourage accessibility and celebrate diversity.
