Peter Bakare is a powerful voice in Diversity & Inclusion, known for his ability to connect across cultures, generations and industries. A Team GB Olympian, Channel 4 scriptwriter, and founder of Nutri Troops, he uses his story to inspire audiences to embrace opportunity, resilience and creativity. From growing up in East London in challenging circumstances to competing on the world stage at London 2012, Peter embodies the values of determination, community and inclusion that he now champions as a keynote speaker.

Raised in Canning Town, Peter was brought up by a single mother and often relied on food parcels from a Franciscan monastery. It was here that basketball-playing monks introduced him to sport, instilling belief and values that carried him forward. Standing at six foot five, Peter eventually switched to volleyball, where his talent was recognised by the England junior squad. Against all odds, he rose to compete in the London 2012 Olympic Games as part of Britain’s first and only indoor volleyball team. Alongside sport, Peter pursued a degree in animation at Sheffield Hallam University, where his creative path led him to an unexpected opportunity writing for the acclaimed drama Skins, helping to shape iconic characters played by Dev Patel and Daniel Kaluuya.

After the Games, Peter channelled his creativity and experience into building opportunities for others. He founded Nutri Troops, an award-winning education programme that teaches children about healthy living through animated adventures and Olympic-style mascots. The initiative reflects his belief that access and opportunity are as important as hard work, particularly for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. His passion for community also led to his appointment as an Ambassador for the Mayor’s Fund for London, where he promotes youth empowerment, and as an Olympic Ambassador for Paris 2024, celebrating diversity through sport. In addition, he serves as a trustee of the Volleyball England Foundation, supporting grassroots participation and inclusive sporting pathways.

Peter has become a sought-after speaker for organisations including the BBC, UK Parliament, Nike, Discovery Channel and 20th Century Fox. His keynote themes centre on resilience, inclusion, personal best and The Hero’s Journey, delivered with warmth, humour and authenticity. He engages audiences of all ages, from school children to senior leaders, with a rare ability to blend lived experience, storytelling and creativity. Whether addressing corporate teams or community groups, Peter empowers people to challenge limitations, embrace diversity and recognise the potential in themselves and others.
