Danny Crates is a highly successful former athlete. Despite losing an arm in a car accident, Danny was determined to pursue a sporting career and has become an accomplished sprinter in the Paralympic Games and popular media personality. At events, Danny’s positive outlook is infectious, as he uses his platform to educate audiences on inclusivity across industries and entertain with anecdotes from his career.

Competing in the T46 events category at the Paralympics, Danny overcame the challenges forced on him after a car accident in 1994. A fierce competitor, Danny made his Paralympic debut in 2000 at the Sydney Games, where he secured Bronze in the 400m sprint. Four years later, Danny improved on his already impressive achievement by winning Gold at the Athens Paralympic Games, a testament to his drive and determination. Alongside his international success, Danny has amassed two World Championship trophies, three European Championship Golds and two Paralympic World Cup gold all in the 800 meters.

Most recently Danny has transitioned into a media career, presenting the Channel 4 coverage of the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Games, in addition to featuring on the BDO World Darts Championships. Other media roles include Truth or Scare, Inside Out and Celebrity MasterChef, which he reached the quatre final of. In 2012 Danny published his autobiography ‘Danny Boy’ which on the Sports Book of the Year, as voted for by the Evening Standard.

Currently, much of Danny’s work is dedicated to motivational speaking engagements, where he discusses how the inclusion he experienced in sports can be transferred into every industry to improve business output through diversity. Having faced adversity and discrimination for his disability, Danny supports corporate clients in ensuring their culture invites inclusivity and supports employees from every background.
