Anoushé Husain is an award-winning paraclimber, inspirational speaker and Diversity and Staff Engagement Lead. Born with a missing right arm below the elbow, surviving cancer and having other long-term health conditions have not prevented Anoushé from living up to her full potential. Instead, Anoushé has smashed the obstacles in her life, overcoming several barriers to become a shining role model for many people. In her speaking sessions, she excels at empowering people struggling with self-limiting beliefs and highlights the suffering experienced by stigmatised groups in society.

Anoushé holds a bachelor’s degree in Translation Studies in French, English and Chinese from the Higher Institute of Translators and Interpreters and a Master’s in European Governance from the University of Luxembourg. She began her career as an Intern at the Chamber of Deputies in Luxembourg, then moved on to work for the European Parliament, before joining the Department of Energy and Climate Change as a Policy Advisor. Senior roles held by Anoushé have included Senior Policy Advisor for the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Diversity and Inclusion Manager for the Department of Education and her current role as the diversity and staff engagement lead at the Medicines Health and Regulatory Agency. 

Civil servant by day, Anoushé is an award-wining paraclimber by night. Recently she gained a Guinness World Record for climbing 374m using one hand. As a remarkably strong woman from an ethnic minority, Anoushé excels at breaking stereotypes imposed on her by society or culture. She has featured on BBC Radio Asian Network with Dil Neiyyar and has been interviewed on the Tough Girl Podcast and The Curious Climber Podcast. In addition to appearing on Channel 4 and BBC Sport, Anoushé was included in both The Power 100 list and the AWF power list 2020 and the Shaw Trust Top 100 list of disabled influencers.
