The Founder of Black Women in Menopause, Nina Kuypers is one of the foremost advocates for Menopause. After finding a lack of groups supporting black women in Menopause, Nina decided to create a safe space where black women can come together to share their experience with Menopause. As a speaker, Nina connects with her audience on a personal level, opening up about her journey with menopause and the implications this has had on her life to empower others going through the same situation.
With over 25 years of experience in the health and nutrition sector, Nina has extensive knowledge of evidence-based interventions, design, development, and implementation. This scientific approach can often be reflected in her organisation as an effective way of helping those struggling with menopause. In addition to running her organisation, as an outspoken activist, Nina articulated her lived experience of menopause at an All Party Parliamentary Group for Menopause. Furthermore, she is a Board Member of Hwupenyu Health and the Wellbeing Project where she draws on her expertise to support black and ethnic communities that are living with chronic health conditions.
As a prominent activist, Nina has been invited to speak at the APPG Women’s Health Group. She also joined in gathering evidence for the APPG Women’s Health Review: Menopause At Work. Moreover, Nina is a Trustee of Black Beetle Health an NGO that specialises in the well-being of ethnic minorities and members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Nina stands out for her passion and advocacy. Having gone through a tumultuous journey with menopause, she perfectly understands the implications this has on other women’s lives and the negative impact it can have on their performance at work. Furthermore, she is one of the first to establish a safe space for black women to share their experiences and acknowledges the lack of support available for ethnic minorities. In her speaking engagements, she eloquently delves into her journey with menopause and offers an insight into the racial and cultural experience of menopause.
